Are your coffees Fair Trade or Organic?Updated a month ago

We pay our farmers more than the Fair Trade rate — to ensure high quality and incentivise sustainable farming.

Organic certification is often judged by a single standard: the absence of synthetic chemicals. While this is important, we believe sustainability goes beyond that. While organic certification ensures that no synthetic fertilisers or pesticides are used, it's just one aspect of sustainable coffee farming. At Kiss the Hippo, we take a holistic approach, considering factors like fair labor practices, water conservation, and ecosystem preservation. We recognise that many small-scale farmers employ organic or biodynamic methods but may find certification processes prohibitively expensive or bureaucratic. In our sourcing, we evaluate each farm individually to support those who align with our sustainability and quality standards, regardless of certification status.
